FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
Laser Hair Removal:
How does the laser remove hair?
The laser creates a beam of high-intensity light that penetrates deep into the skin tissue targeting the melanin in the hair follicle causing injury to that follicle. The Dynamic Cooling Device technology patented to the GentleYag laser cools the skin with a burst of cryogen before and after the pulse of light.
What if I have gray, white, blonde, red or light fine hair?
You will not be a good candidate for laser hair removal since the laser needs to see the hair follicle in order to destroy it.
Is laser hair removal permanent?
The FDA has cleared laser hair removal as "Permanent Hair Reduction". Since many factors including hormonal imbalances, stress, medications, and certain diseases could cause hair growth, new hair may appear where growth was not seen previously. It is our experience that the injured hair follicle will not repair itself.
How many laser treatments will I need?
Typically 5 to 6 treatments will be sufficient if the recommended treatment schedule is followed. The hair follicle must be in the growth stage of hair development to be affected by the laser beam. What happens to the skin after laser treatment? Usually the skin becomes very warm and rash-like in appearance. This disappears within a few minutes. Cool compresses are applied to the treated area. You may resume normal activity after your treatment and re-appy make-up and sun block.
Sunspots:
How many treatments will be necessary to remove sunspots or a pigmented lesion?
These areas are treated similar to tattoo removal. Usually 1-3 treatments are sufficient to entirely remove the pigment. Cafe au lait birthmarks require more frequent sessions. The treated areas temporarily darkens after treatment. Over the next 7 to 10 days the treated skin will slough off leaving new unblemished skin. It is important to sunblock these areas during the entire treatment time. Laser Enhanced Therapies would be happy to provider references of previous treated patients on request.
Laser Vein Removal:
Will laser therapy work?
A thorough evaluation must be done to see if laser vein removal is right for you. Leg veins are typically treated by sclerotherapy first. Sclerotherapy is a medical procedure involving the injection of a scherosing agent into the blood vessel. Laser therapy is performed after the reticular and injectble veins are treated. In severe cases, more aggressive therapies are available. Further testing may be necessary to determine if circulatory compromise may be a consideration.
Will laser therapy work on my face and nose veins?
Facial veins are successfully treated with laser therapy. Typically, 1-3 treatments completely resolves unsightly vessels?
Will I see immediate results?
Yes, you will notice some vessels totally disappearing leaving a slightly pink, puffy texture to your skin. This will disappear within a few hours. Some vessels, however, will coagulate causing a darkening of the vessel. This vessel will disappear over a one to two month period similiar to the time it takes for a black and blue to go away.
Microdermabrasion:
Will I have an immediate improvement in my skin?
Patients experience softer, smoother, and vibrant looking skin after the very first treatment. For problematic areas, a series of 6 treatments is recommended.
